2011 Homeschool Fair Registration Form (MS Word)

We are planning our Homeschool Fair and working on dates NOW. Although registration forms are not available yet, we will let you know as the timeline approaches. The registration form will come out in the February-March 2011 newsletter and will be able to be downloaded after that date from the link above. Start thinking about your projects and performances soon.

What is the Homeschool Fair? It is the event during which C.H.E.C.K. offers its members a chance to display special school projects and bless others with talent performances. Several categories exist: Spelling Bee, English/Literature, Science, History/Geography, Arts & Crafts, Baked Goods, God's Gifts Performances, and Oral Presentations. There is a small entry fee per student. Commemorative ribbons and personalized certificates are awarded to each pupil. Students may enter several categories. We also enjoy a hot dog lunch to raise money for C.H.E.C.K.

Spelling Bee: A traditional spelling bee divided into grade levels. If there are not enough students, a few higher level grades may be combined. The spelling bee lists from 2010 are available right now here.

English/Literature: Perhaps your student has written an exceptional paper or story or made a booklet on a novel.

Science: These may be display items or interactive experiments. Remember we are inside a church building.

History/Geography: Notebooks, essays, projects, maps, models made such as a castle or ship.

Arts & Crafts: Drawings, paintings, sculptures, sewing/handwork, models, any type of art project and may even include an outfit or costume which your student wears to the fair.

Baked Goods: Enter any food/candy item your student makes/bakes. We usually sell these items as our dessert fund raiser during lunch. If your child wishes to keep their baked goods, time will be given for you to remove them from the table before the sale starts.

God's Gifts Performances: Our talent show with instrumental pieces, voice, poetry, drama, recitations, karate or fencing demos, dance, etc. Each student has a total of 3 minutes performance time to share his/her talent(s). You will need to register the type of performance, title of piece and the time it takes to perform it, so start practicing and selecting your arrangements now. Example: If your student plays piano and recites a Scripture selection, the total time allotted for both pieces together is 3 minutes. Longer pieces may require omitting a repeated portion or verse in order to fall within the 3 minute limitation.

Oral Presentations: We allow students the opportunity to give a few minutes to explain or demonstrate their projects alongside their displays. Example: "How I Made This Ceramic Bowl", or "All About My Rock Collection."

While most events are for C.H.E.C.K. members only, we allow you to invite friends and family to come and view your projects and enjoy your performances.
